Bottle Shop for the Week of April 11

This Wednesday, April 12, we release a new batch of E. in the bottle shop!

E. is for Edward (1917-2002), my grandfather, as well as the name of the first beer that I brewed in my brewery on March 30, 2010.  E. is for Easter; brewing in Denmark revealed a European tradition of crafting Easter (Påske) beer.  Finally, E. is for entelechy, the continued actualization of our potential through spirited effort and vision.   Thus, in honor of E., to the past and future emprises here on Hill Road, we offer this special beer: Edward fermented with our Farmstead yeast, aged in oak barrels, dry-hopped with Galaxy hops and bottled conditioned.

750ml, $30, limit 3 per person (credit card and matching ID required, please see our bottle release policy).

We are open in Retail Wednesday - Saturday, 12 p.m. - 5 p.m.

Works of Love: Tired Hands

On Wednesday, April 5, we're proud to release the next iteration of our collaborative series, Works of Love: Tired Hands.

Our friend Jean Broillet IV of Tired Hands joined us last June at the brewery to brew two beers. The first was Karma Emulsion, and the second was a special Farmstead® ale with aromatic spicebush. Fermented and conditioned in our oak foudres, this was bottled in July of 2016 and allowed to evolve into a beautiful expression of our long friendship and shared vision.

750ml, $30.00, limit 3 per person (credit card and matching ID required, please see our bottle release policy).

Retail operation hours are Wednesday - Saturday, 12 p.m. - 5 p.m.

Bottle Shop for the Week of March 28

In our bottle shop, beginning Wednesday, March 29, we will release Birth of Tragedy: Kochere, an imperial porter brewed with honey and aged on Kochere coffee from Yirgacheffe, Ethiopia, in apple brandy barrels.

We have chosen two barrels of Birth of Tragedy as the base for this single origin coffee experiment.  After aging for 20 months in apple brandy barrels, we conditioned the beer atop Ethiopian Kochere coffee beans sourced and roasted by The Coffee Collective in Copenhagen, Denmark.  These friends long ago changed our worldview as to what coffee could be.  After months of bottle conditioning, the beer is ready for release.

375ml, $20, limit 1 per person (credit card and matching ID required, please see our bottle release policy).

Retail hours next week are Wednesday - Saturday, from 12 p.m. - 5 p.m.

Let it Snow...

Winter is still here, but so are we.  Hill Farmstead will be open regular hours this week, starting tomorrow on Wednesday, March 15 from 12pm – 5pm.

The roads are bumpy out there.  Drive safe.

March 15 Update: we’re open for business as usual in our Retail shop, but please be advised that travel conditions are not ideal and most of the roads are still covered due to drifts. Slow and steady, travel safely!

Brother Soigné - January 18, 2017

The Future is Now!  Well, not entirely.  We bottled up the latest batch of one of our favorite Grassroots Brewing® beers, Brother Soigné, in January of this year.

We must have had warmer weather months on our mind at the moment, and as a result, a portion of the bottles were date stamped incorrectly.  While still a forward thinking beer, this bottle is not from the future.  The correct bottle date is 2017 01 18.  Cheers!

Bottle Shop for the Week of March 14

Next Wednesday, March 15, we will release bottles of Arthur Puncheon for sale in our Retail bottle shop.

Arthur (1922-2005) was our grandfather's youngest brother; Hill Farmstead Brewery rests upon the land that was once home to him and his 13 siblings.  In his honor, this version of Arthur was aged for many months in our puncheons--not quite Arthur, not quite Art, but magical all the same.  Unfiltered and naturally carbonated, this is the ale that I dream to have shared with Arthur.

375ml, $15, limit 2 per person (credit card and matching ID required, please see our
bottle release policy).

Retail operation hours are Wednesday - Saturday, from 12pm - 5pm.

Onsite Selection for Week of March 7

This Wednesday, March 8, we will be releasing Flora: Cherry/Raspberry bottles onsite in our taproom...

Flora is the wine barrel-aged version of Florence (1915-1967), our grandfather's sister as well as the name of our Farmstead® wheat ale.  A single barrel was selected and aged on a blend of fresh, hand-picked cherries and berries from Elmore and the Champlain Valley.  The result is a complex, elegant, fruit-forward blend that both marries and highlights each of its constituent elements.

375ml, $33, Onsite consumption only.

Flora: Cherry/Raspberry will be available to share here onsite during our regular Retail business hours from Wednesday - Saturday, from 12pm - 5pm!

Bottle Shop for the Week of February 28

This next week marks the arrival of March and the return of Earl to the retail bottle shop.

Earl (1911 – 1985) was our grandfather’s brother and Hill Farmstead Brewery rests upon the land that once was home to him and his 13 siblings.  In his honor, this stout was brewed with American malted barley, raw oats, American hops, freshly roasted coffee, our ale yeast and water from our well.  This is the ale that I dream to have shared with Earl.

500ml, $8.

As usual, we’re open Wednesday – Saturday from 12 – 5pm.
